Democrats Target Rep. Cravaack MN cd8The Democratic National Campaign Committee is targeting this race. Expect attack ads from challengers.8th CD Congressman Chip CravaackRep. Chip Cravaack has been a faithful representative for the pro-life view. He has supported the pro-life position all pro-life bills that came before him:
In addition to his 100% pro-life voting record, Rep. Cravaack has been working tirelessly to meet with constituents, to hear their thoughts and is busy helping them to resolve personal matters. Tarryl ClarkOn May 8th, 2011, former Dist.15 State Senator, Tarryl Clark (DFL St. Cloud), set up a residence in Duluth and filed for the 8th CD representative seat. Clark has a nearly perfect pro-abortion voting record. She voted to:
While redistricting will affect the boundaries or the 8th District, Clark has positioned herself to run against Rep. Cravaack whether or not the proposed redistricting plan is adopted or not. She has also stated that if she is not endorsed by the DFL she will run in a primary election. Former Rep. Rick NolanFormer 6th Congressional District Rep. Richard Nolan announced his candidacy for Congress in the 8th Congressional District on 7/13/11. Pro-life voters may remember that Nolan cast some pro-life votes while he was in Congress in the 1970s, in the last years of his term he cast six consecutive pro-abortion votes. It is important to note that in 1976, Rep. Nolan (D) voted repeatedly in favor of the Hyde Amendment to stop federal funding of abortions, but by 1979, Nolan had flip-flopped and was voting in favor of taxpayer funding of abortions in the Labor-HEW Appropriations bill. On his campaign website, Nolan has posted an audio about "politicians who say one thing and do another," in which he describes how he will keep his word. He also says, "Congressman, Rick Nolan will fully support House Joint Resolution 47, which removes the ERA time limit for passage and ratification. Rick will work tirelessly on behalf of the ERA until it becomes part of the U.S. Constitution." Jeff Anderson
Anderson has worked in television and radio for the past 16 years. For
the past decade he has worked as an advertising executive for a group of
regional radio stations and is a member of the Duluth City Council.
On his campaign Website Anderson says, "I believe that every American
should receive the same rights under the law.
I support the Equal Rights Amendment, women’s reproductive rights, and
marriage equality."
